My biography
Ugnė Paulauskaitė
News Journalist to be
Ugnė Paulauskaitė’s decision to study journalism was made seconds before the deadline of an application. Ugnė never knew exactly what she wanted to study. She was always interested in many things. In fact, few of her teachers even described her as a multipotentialite. But the thing that never changed about her was that she always wrote. It doesn’t matter what it was: articles for school, stories, songs. She was always passionate about writing. And the fact that she could write and was interested in many subjects led her to choose the journalism programme at Vilnius university.
Before she started writing on the main website of the school, Jonas Graičiūnas gymnasium, she did some light writing on her primary and secondary schools. Teachers didn’t noticed her talent right away, but through her hard work she became quite recognizable in her high school and city as well.
While writing for her school Ugnė also wrote for several newspapers like the local paper “Bičiulis” and the international students’ journal “Defrit”.
At the end of her senior year all of the teachers in Ugnė’s school decided that not only she was an excellent journalist but also one of the best students in the school. She was always smiling and saying nice things to people, but at the same time she managed to stay critical. For these personal traits she got the most prestigious award in Jonas Graičiūnas’ gymnasium: the Antanas Mikalajūnas prize.
Despite the fact that she was a great journalist in her hometown, she always craved more. Just a week after she graduated from high school she got another monumental award. She became a laureate of the Creativity School created by two well known artists: the philosophy lecturer of Vilnius University, Kristupas Sabolius, and a multi-tasking publisher, Tomas Ramanauskas.
